Seasons of Light & Loss

Seasons of Light & Loss is about my journey through grief to motherhood. The memoir covers the period between September 2014, when my husband Dave was diagnosed with an inoperable anaplastic astrocytoma, a rare form of brain cancer, through my next relationship and the premature birth of my son at twenty-nine weeks and one pound in March 2017.

The narrative is structured in non-chronological monthly chapters. It is set against the background of my life during this period, including launching a specialty food store in San Francisco; travel to Vietnam, Mexico, and across the United States; and a rich tapestry of friends and family.

It is a story about love in its varying forms and about how we react to unimaginable loss and trauma.
